*CALL TO WORSHIP

We raise our voices and wave with joyful hope the palms of deliverance of God’s people.

Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David!

Our hearts are filled with expectation as we welcome the coming king.

Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

We receive into the crowded streets of our lives the One who is Savior, not only of us, but of all the earth.

Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest!

*LITANY FOR PALM/PASSION SUNDAY “Following Jesus Is Hard”

God, today, we wave our palm branches, cry for help, and lay the green leaves on the dusty ground.

in hopes that our prayers will reach your ears.

Save us, God, from our greed, our arrogance, our selfishness. From our ignorance, our apathy, our complicity.

Save us, God, from sickness and abuse. From people who would have us be someone other than ourselves.

Following Jesus is hard, God. It means we must sacrifice and yield; sit still and explore; forgive and love.

So we ask you, and we ask each other for help, for companionship, for love.

Will you enliven us to help each other? To share the bread and the cup not only with our loved ones but with our enemies, too?

Only time will tell, Holy God, if we will be your hands and feet this Holy Week.

Palm branches wave across the sky.

Hear us, God! Save us, God! Help us, God!

We hear you say: I am here, child.

Silence falls like rain. We save our voices because we trust you know our hearts.

Amen.

Get My People Going: Keep Moving: Strength for the Journey

Moses was a great walker, but did you know that some of the most well-known people of faith were also walkers? People like Mother Teresa, St. Francis of Assisi, Dorothy Day, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer all included daily walks as a time to think and pray. Walking is good for your mind, your body, and your soul. Walk with a friend and create community! For more information, contact Susan Thorson, Faith Community Nurse 661-9302.

Fellowship Coffee Time, Sundays 9:30 to 10:30am. Coffee fellowship between services is a time to relax, welcome guests, and get to know our church family while enjoying something to drink and have a treat. Would you furnish treats for Sunday? We are looking for persons to sign up for a Sunday in April, or May. You will need approx. 6 doz. cookies, bars, muffins or donuts or etc. Carol makes the coffee and does the set up. You will serve, do the dishes and clean up. There are extra treats in the freezer that are donated by folks that are not able to serve, so do not worry if there are more people than treats that you brought! There is a sign-up sheet in Wesley Hall or you can call/email the church office or Carol Becker 665 4694/ pcabecker@vyn.midco.net. Thank you to those who have volunteered to provide treats and/or serve in the past.
