RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP (Please leave complete address)

Jesus says, “Now is the time!”

Startle us, God, from our busyness and routines. Show us how very

close your Kingdom is.

Jesus says, “God’s kingdom is at hand!”

Deliver us, God, from faith in our own strength. Free us from the traps of

violence, dishonesty, and greed.

Jesus says, “Receive the good news from God!”

Embolden us, God, to trust you anew. For we are as fragile as breath,

and draw our strength from your mercy and compassion.

*OPENING PRAYER

*HYMN OF PRAISE #577 (UM hymnal) “God of Grace and God of Glory”

*LITANY “The World Is Never Again the Same”

When God’s Word comes upon the world, the world is never again the same. An old age ends, a new day begins.

So, young Jonah, why sit and sulk?

When I caught wind of the Word of the Lord, I tried to run away. Why should I go to a hostile people in a faraway place, to deliver a message from another land’s God?

But you did go, and they believed and repented. So, young Jonah, why sit and sulk?

Why did God attend to their prayers? They were not God’s people!

But they did not need three days in a fish before they arose to follow the Lord.

When God’s Word comes upon the world, the world is never again the same.

So, old Zebedee, why sit and scowl?

When I caught sight of the Word of the Lord, I went on mending my nets. Why should I drop my home and my work to chase a carpenter’s dream?

But James and John went; they believed and repented. So, old Zebedee, why sit and scowl?

Why did God have to appear to them? They left me behind!

They did not want to cast nets from a boat to catch the fish of Galilee.

God’s Word has come again to the world. Let the old age end! Let the new day begin!

Did you know that when we hope for the impossible, it involves more than praying for God’s transcendent power? There are two components to every miracle: divine action and human responsibility. Each of us has been given specific talents and abilities. For a real miracle to take place, God expects us to apply these talents and abilities—acting with God to perform divine work. By examining biblical examples of how to use your God-given gifts for God’s glory, author and Pastor Mike Slaughter helps you discover that you, too, were Made for a Miracle.

We will have two-time options for you to choose from for the Lenten study this year. Thursday mornings at 10:30am starting Feb. 15th and Sunday evenings at 6pm starting Feb. 18th. Childcare will be available, Sunday evenings only.

We will “Be Still”, and gather together to hear God’s amazing word for each of us, inspire us, inspire us, stir us, move us through the words of our speaker Tera Elness. Tera is a wife, mama, coffee addict, bible study leader, and speaker. Much like her friends the Israelites, Tera wandered the desert for nearly 40 years in search of life-giving refreshment.  Upon discovering the oasis of grace, her thirsty heart was filled and dry spirit quenched as she set out on her own personal journey of walking in faith and living her (His) story. Tera strives to share God’s perfect grace with His imperfect girls through speaking events, bible studies, prayer groups, conferences, retreats, and more often, simply over a great cup ‘o joe. Tera lives in Minnesota with her hubby and kiddos. You can check out Tera at or on Facebook at Tera’s online Christian Journey.
