PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

GREAT THANKSGIVING FOR ALL SAINTS SUNDAY

    Christ be with you.

         And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to God.

Let us give our thanks to the Holy One.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

And so, with your creatures on earth and all the heavenly chorus,

we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of our glory.

Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one

who comes in the name of the Lord.

         Hosanna in the highest.

And so, in remembrance of your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,

we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

A huge thank you to those who have volunteered to help usher for our worship services. We are still in need of assistant ushers for the 8:30 am and the 11:00 am service the 2nd Sunday of each month.  Beginning in November we will need four ushers for the 11:00 service the second Sunday. We would also like to increase our pool of substitutes to help out when needed. Please prayerfully consider helping out with this important ministry of our church.  Please contact Craig Sherman, if you wish to help out with this ministry. Email: cs2254@yahoo.com or 665-7182.

KYNT Radio Broadcast Sponsors Needed

The signup folder is located on the table in the Church Lounge. Several dates in November are available.  There are other dates still available. The cost to sponsor a Sunday broadcast is $45.00.

Live Nativity Looking for Animals Hello friends! We are looking for some live animals for this year’s Live Nativity. Do you know someone with a cow, a donkey and some sheep? Maybe even a camel? Or you might know someone that knows someone with animals. Please let the Worship Committee know by contacting Wyatt Yager at wyatt.yager@gmail.com Thank you!

Ladies of 1st UMC are cordially invited and encouraged to attend the regular monthly meeting of United Methodist Women (UMW), Monday, November 6th at 1:30pm. We will meet in the gathering room by the church sanctuary. We will be honoring the memory of those who have passed away during this past year. We will also be dedicating our thank offering. Each individual is asked to bring food items that would make a light meal. These items will be donated to the food shelf. Here are three examples: 1) box of macaroni and cheese, can of green beans and canned fruit.  2) package of spaghetti, spaghetti sauce and cans of corn. 3) can of chili, box of crackers and can of fruit.  We all have so much and to give a meal – even if we have to give up a meal – is helping to serve the least of these. If you have questions please contact our president, Barb Hirsch at 760-5852.

The Yankton Area Literacy Council is providing a program entitled “Math is Fun” to elementary students in the Yankton School District. Volunteers work with children for 1 hour, from 3:30-4:30, each week to help them improve their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills. A lot of our work is done with flash cards. When needed, we also provide assistance with time-telling and money counting skills. We presently have tutors in each of the 4 elementary schools. Administrators have more children they would like to include, but we need volunteers before they can be added. If you think you could help a child improve his/her math skills, or if you have questions about the program, please call the Yankton Area Literacy Council (605) 760-4803 or Patty Stuelpnagel, 605-660-1088.
