RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP (Please leave complete address)

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Today, on World Communion Sunday, we remember that we are one. Today, we celebrate the Spirit of God that moves throughout God’s people across all of creation.

We are one in Christ.

Today we remember our responsibility to bear with one another in love, to maintain unity by the bond of peace and to be the body of Christ in the world.

We are one body.

Today we recall that, as members of one body, we can make a difference in a world of people in need of the hope of the love of Christ. Today, we recognize this hope that unites us and sustains us.

We are people of one hope.

Today we celebrate our unity. We set aside the small things that can divide us and remember that, with God, we can overcome all things. Today we are reminded that only with gentleness and humility can we clearly see God’s plan for us.

We are people of one Lord.

Today, on World Communion Sunday, we acknowledge that we belong to God and to each other. We share the bread and the cup of Holy Communion. And through our gifts on this special Sunday, we provide scholarships and other opportunities so that people around the world can serve Jesus Christ.

All: We are people of one God who is above all and through all.

PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING FOR WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY

Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to God.

Let us give our thanks to the Holy One.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

And so, with your creatures on earth and all the heavenly chorus, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the

 Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

And so, in remembrance of your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Your local UMW group would like to invite all women who are on the path "to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ" to their next meeting, scheduled for Monday, October 2nd at 1:30 p.m.  There will be devotions by Mary Johnson, Mary Peirce and Diane Kisch will prepare a little "lunch" and the speaker, Abby Kokesh, will tell us about New Life in Christ.  You will learn of all the important things that the UMW ladies do worldwide and here, in our own community.  We'll be glad to see you!

·      If you are new to F.U.M.C. and visiting with us today, we would appreciate it if you would take the time to fill out the Visitor Card that is placed in the back of the pew pockets. You may then turn this card into the Welcome Table in the lobby at the base of the staircase and you will receive a Welcome Bag!  Thank you for being with us today!

Website Coordinator needed we are looking for someone to build a new website for the church. If you would like more information please contact Jenae Norton.

- The Annual Soup Kitchen and Country Store, is Wednesday, October 18th, will be an important day for our church. It is an opportunity for our entire congregation to enjoy great fellowship while working together toward a very worthy goal. The event is a project of the United Methodist Women but it needs everyone to successfully raise funds designated for camping scholarships and local missions. How can you be involved? Your donations of food and items for the Country Store are needed as well as your willingness to work during the day. A “white elephant” table will also be part of the Country Store. New, like new, and never used household and personal items may be donated for sale. No clothing, please. Remember if you are canning, the Country Store can always use home canned things. There is a form in the bulletin to be completed and turned in no later than October 9th. Please complete the form to limit the number of calls needed to contact everyone. We count on your help to make this a very successful event.

KYNT Radio Broadcast Sponsors Needed

The signup folder is located on the table in the Church Lounge. October 8th is available.  There are other dates still available. The cost to sponsor a Sunday broadcast is $45.00.

The Chancel Choir offers opportunities for those who love to raise your voice in thanks and praise to God.  There is a place for you in this music ministry.  If you have been thinking of joining the choir, or if you are new to town or to the church, the Chancel Choir family within our larger church family is an excellent starting point. We are eager for you to join us as we sing a wide variety of music from contemporary to gospel. Practice on Wednesdays at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary.

Federal Prison Camp the Evangelism committee will be having the church services at the Federal Prison Camp on Oct. 15th and Dec. 31st. We are looking for individuals to join us in this ministry.  If this is something you would be interested in or have questions, please contact Paula Keehr at 665-5501 or p.keehr@vyn.midco.net. Everyone will need to fill out a background check form even if you have filled one out previously. They are located on the information desk at the bottom of the stairs and can be returned to the office. We will be sending them in sometime in August.

We started a new Women's Bible Study "Entrusted, A Study of 2 Timothy" by Beth Moore Sundays at 9:45am in the Upper Room. In this Bible study, Beth will encourage you to guard what God has entrusted to you, further His kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy. Because in this journey of joy and hardship, we need each other to stay the course and live lives of faithfulness. Please join us for this video driven study on Sunday mornings during Sunday School!
