RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP (Please leave complete address)

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Brothers and sisters, have you loved your neighbor? Have you stopped by the

road and bandaged the wounded, or have you passed by on the other side?

The Lord is acquainted with all our ways!

Sisters and brothers, have you loved your God? Have you carried the afflicted

to a place of rest, or have you turned your back and hurried on?

The Lord is acquainted with all our ways!

Come to God, that you might learn to show mercy. Come to God, that you

might receive mercy.

Let the Lord teach us how our hearts can love - with all their

soul and strength and mind!

*OPENING PRAYER

*HYMN OF PRAISE #577 (UM hymnal) “God of Grace and God of Glory”

*LITANY “Go and Do Likewise”

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all

your strength and with all your mind.

            Love your neighbor as yourself.

Thank you for Jesus Christ. He sacrificed everything out of love for us.

Jesus shows us how to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Thank you for the men and women of our faith, for Rahab, Samuel, Peter, and

Mary Magdalene.

Our ancestors show us how to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Thank you for our modern saints, for Susanna Wesley, John Wesley,

William Otterbein, Jacob Albright, and Francis Willard.

Our forebears in the faith show us how to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Thank you for those who have shown us how to love –our good Samaritans.

Our friends show us how to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Jesus says, “Go and do likewise.”

- Ushers Needed One of the important ministries here at First UMC is the one performed by our ushers. The Worship Committee is recruiting people to help fill in some of the open spots on our usher schedule and to develop a list of substitutes to fill in when out permanent ushers are unavailable. Many of our current ushers have served faithfully for a number of years. With summer approaching and the service times changing for the summer we are in need of people to help out by filling in some of the open slots. This summer would be a great time for anyone thinking about stepping up and helping with this ministry to check it out. and see if this is a way you would be able Please prayerfully consider whether this would be a way for you to fulfill your membership covenant to “faithfully participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness”.  Please contact Craig Sherman, Worship Chair if you wish to help out with this ministry.  Email: cs2254@yahoo.com or 665-7182.
