Almighty God, before whom stand the living and the dead, we your children,

whose mortal life is but a hand’s breadth, give thanks to you: For all those

through whom you have blessed our pilgrimage, whose lives that have

empowered us, whose influence is a healing grace,

Response: We lift up thankful hearts.

For the dear friends and family members whose faces we see no more,

but whose love is with us for ever… Response

For the teachers and companions of our childhood and youth, and for the     members of our household of faith who worship you now in heaven…                          Response

For those who sacrificed themselves, our brothers and sisters who have

given their lives for the sake of others… Response:

That we may hold them all in continual remembrance, and ever think of them

as with you in that city whose gates are not shut by day and where there is no

           night… Response:

That we may now be dedicated to working for a world where labor is

rewarded, fear dispelled, and the nations made one,

O Lord, save your people and bless your heritage. Day by day we magnify you, and worship your name, for ever and ever. Amen.

- Ushers Needed One of the important ministries here at First UMC is the one performed by our ushers. The Worship Committee is recruiting people to help fill in some of the open spots on our usher schedule and to develop a list of substitutes to fill in when out permanent ushers are unavailable. Many of our current ushers have served faithfully for a number of years. With summer approaching and the service times changing for the summer we are in need of people to help out by filling in some of the open slots. This summer would be a great time for anyone thinking about stepping up and helping with this ministry to check it out. and see if this is a way you would be able Please prayerfully consider whether this would be a way for you to fulfill your membership covenant to “faithfully participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness”.  Please contact Craig Sherman, Worship Chair if you wish to help out with this ministry.  Email: or 665-7182.

- Special Music Request Music is an integral part of every church service and among our congregation there are many of you that are blessed with this talent. Sunday service for the summer will be held at 9:30am and the Worship Committee would like to have talented people young, old or in between step forth and offer their special gift of music for the service. If you would like to volunteer for one Sunday please call Lorraine Slade at 260-3133. Thanks You

Anyone – male or female - interested in attending may contact Joan Neubauer at 260-9564 and have your name added to the list.  We will meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. that day, take the brief trip by cars to the Homeless Shelter and then lunch together at 11:45 to discuss our future plans for assistance to the shelter.  The group will then be on summer hiatus until September 12th, at which time our Shepherdess, Marilyn Herrboldt, from Sioux Falls will be our guest.

- Coffee Fellowship Summer Schedule We are in need of people to sign-up to provide cookies and serve during coffee fellowship from 9:00-9:30:00am during the summer especially in June. The signup sheet is located in Wesley Hall.

- Camp Even though the Early Bird deadline is past you can still register for camp. The cost would be at full price. The church and UWM will still cover ½ of the early bird cost for one camp per youth (K-12th grade) you are responsible for the balance. The discount code is no longer on the website, to get reimbursed you’ll need to bring a copy of the registration form to the church office.

- Church Directory there are a few 2016 Church Directories available on the Welcome Table. If you have a new phone number, address or email please let Lisa in the office know.

- Worship Service Deadline If needing to make an announcement at a worship service, especially if you are in need of something inserted or played during the service, it needs to be given to Carla Hummel no later than the end of Thursday prior to the service.  If preparing for special services, please allow at least 2 days’ notice in order to properly prepare for the addition. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the sound system and PowerPoint presentation so that I am able to provide the best possible service, the deadline allows us all a chance to practice and test so that it becomes a more flawless presentation.  Thanks for your consideration!

Carla Hummel
