*CALL TO WORSHIP

Faith is the gift of God.  Come worship our Creator and feed your faith.

God is like a gardener who won’t let beloved plants wither.

Faith is the gift of God.  Lift praise to Jesus Christ and find the

way to new life.

Jesus is like a gardener who tends and fertilizes the soil

of our hearts.

Faith is the gift of God. Call upon the Holy Spirit and grow in discipleship.

The Holy Spirit is like a gardener coaxing us to bear

fruit that will glorify God. (Sherry Parker)

  *OPENING PRAYER

*HYMN OF PRAISE #127 (UM Hymnal) “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”

*LITANY OF CONFESSION

Mark tells of the man brought to Jesus who was deaf and could

hardly speak.  Jesus put his fingers in the man’s ears and touched his

tongue.  At once his ears were opened, his tongue was set loose,

and he began to talk.

Touch me, God, that I may use my tongue to speak

words of truth, and that I may listen to the cries of those

around me and heed their call.

Jesus was confronted by two blind men who requested healing.

When asked if they believed he possessed such power, they

answered yes; he touched their eyes, and their sight was restored.

Touch me, God, that I may comprehend those things

that I see.  Remove my spiritual blindess, and challenge

me to minister to those needs I see round me.

While preaching in a certain town, Jesus was confronted to by

a man covered with leprosy.  He reach out and touched the man;

the leprosy left him and his body was healed.

Touch me, God, that I might be healed in body, mind, and spirit.

Help me to be a whole person and receive the benefits of life

that You have to give me.

The three disciples, as they heard a voice proclaim Jesus as the

Beloved of God at the transfiguration, threw themselves to the

ground in fear.  Jesus came to them and touched them as he said,

  “Do not be afraid.”

             Touch me, God, and remove my fear because of things I do not understand;

guide me in the future as I need the touch of Your guiding hand.

- Heritage Sunday is April 10th.  We will recognize church members who have been Methodists for 50 or more years.  If you have been a member that long, and have not been recognized, please notify Lisa in the Church office.  Church History Committee.

- World Day of Prayer, an ecumenical celebration of informed prayer and prayerful action is set for Friday, March 4. Written by the women of Cuba, the program calls us to receive the kingdom of God as little children. The service is sponsored by Church Women United in the Gathering Place at Avera Sacred Heart Majestic Bluffs at 2:00 PM. Anyone wishing to sing in the chorus come at 1:00 PM for practice.

- KYNT Radio Broadcast It’s time to sign up to sponsor a Radio Broadcast during the 2016 year.  The signup folder is located on the table in the Church Lounge. If you want a certain date, get signed up right away.  The cost to sponsor a Sunday broadcast is $45.00.

- UMW Meeting All women of the church are invited to attend the March 7th meeting of UMW. The term “United Methodist Women” is not used loosely in this case. The Monday, March 7th meeting will feature a program presented by our own Kristi Palecek, who is doing ground-breaking (not literally) work in our community.  We gather at 1:30 p.m. and will share devotions presented by Judy Bevers with assistance from Rose Nedved on the piano, followed by our program. There will be a short business meeting with discussions concerning officers and committee chairs for next year, the June retreat and much more. Members voted at the February meeting to provide items for the Health Kit (list of ingredients available from Joan Neubauer) at this meeting in order to begin assembling the kits and perhaps some layettes as well. The meeting will conclude with a light snack served by hostesses Margie Stengle and Myrna Stouffer.  Our numbers are growing – come and join us!

 - The Missions Committee has elected to make a donation of $600.00 to The Center for the month of February.  This facility is a United Way Agency and depends on the support of this community. This facility served over 48,000 home cooked meals in (2014-2015). Plus, it provides tax assistance to over 400 individuals and families, provides supplemental food boxes to over 2,300 Seniors, provides snow removal to 30 Seniors, disburses pet food to low income families, provides Medicare Part D assistance, and delivers over 18,000 Meals on Wheels to those that are homebound. This facility plays a crucial and vital roll in our community, and we proudly support it.

- Habitat Rummage Sale Habitat 500 Bike Team will hold their annual rummage sale April 1st & 2nd. Because more space is needed the sale will be at The Mill 104 Capitol St. As you do spring cleaning let us recycle your “extras”.  Call Tom & Jane at 665-8303 if you need things picked up.

Current Message Series: Renegade Gospel

Who was Jesus, really? Wasn’t the central figure to the Christian faith a man who denied all preconceived notions about what God should look like? Wouldn’t associating with him have meant joining a rebel movement? Doesn’t it still? Renegade Gospel is a church study that challenges believers to come to terms with the real Jesus—the rebel Jesus.
