*CALL TO WORSHIP

Jesus calls us to hear the good news.

We are ready to hear the good news.

Jesus comes to free us from our possessions.

   But we like our stuff.

Jesus invites us to own stuff and not be owned by it.

That is freedom, indeed!

*OPENING PRAYER

*HYMN OF PRAISE #400 (blue hymnal)

“Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

AN AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

I believe in the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ.

I believe that behind the clouds of the life shines the love of God.

I believe that God has a purpose for the world and a purpose for me.

I believe that God wills the blessedness of all lives and of every single life.

I believe that Jesus Christ saves life from the power of sin and sorrow and death.

I believe in the life-giving power and grace of the Holy Spirit.

I believe that through faith and prayer and sacrament I can live the life which is life indeed.

I believe that God calls me to love and service.

I believe that through Christ, life leads at last to the fullness of goodness, truth, and beauty.

I believe in the grace of Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit.

- The Annual Soup Kitchen and Country Store, is Wednesday, October 21st, will be an important day for our church. It is an opportunity for our entire congregation to enjoy great fellowship while working together toward a very worthy goal. The event is a project of the United Methodist Women but it needs everyone to successfully raise funds designated for camping scholarships and local missions. How can you be involved? Your donations of food and items for the Country Store are needed as well as your willingness to work during the day. A “white elephant” table will also be part of the Country Store. New, like new, and never used household and personal items may be donated for sale. No clothing, please. There is a form in the bulletin to be completed and turned in no later than October 12th. Please complete the form to limit the number of calls needed to contact everyone. We count on your help to make this a very successful event.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 25th

Supper at 5pm in Wesley Hall followed by guest speaker Bobby Jones at 6pm.

About our guest speaker

Bobby Jones is an engaging communicator, singer, songwriter, and performer.  He found his relationship with Christ in 2012 after experiencing many of life’s struggles.

He played college football at Michigan State University with hopes of an NFL career.  In falling short of his dream, Bobby fell into an alcohol addiction.  This took him down a path of destruction.  Bobby was lead to Christ after 9 months in recovery and found a new purpose for life and he wants to share that with you.

Bobby loves to share his story to motivate youth to make the right choices for their future. He hopes to inspire you and let God show you that he has a better plan for your life than you could ever imagine.
