Traditional Worship: 10:00 A.M.

Eighth Sunday after Pentecost

Our Mission:

“To grow disciples of Jesus Christ and equip them for ministry in the world.”

Come away, disciples of Christ, and rest from your labors.

We are weary from our work.

Come away, disciples of Christ, and leave the demands of the crowds.

There are always more who need our help.

Come away, disciples of Christ, and be renewed in fellowship with our shepherd.

We too love the sheep, but need our own renewal. We too need to

hear anew the teachings of Jesus, to give us strength for the journey.

Come away, disciples of Christ, and draw courage from the one who gives

us peace.

*HYMN OF PRAISE #381 (blue hymnal) “Savior, Like A Shepherd Lead Us”

LITANY: “Christ’s Summons To Service”

As we come together, we are pushed by our desire for success and

pulled by Christ’s summons to service.

Help us, dear Lord, to resist the push for success.

We desire a life of ease and privilege.

Help us, dear Lord, to resist the push for success.

We covet the power of fame and wealth.

Help us, dear Lord, to resist the push for success.

Yet we also esteem the call to duty and charity.

Help us, dear Lord, to heed the pull of service.

We lament the rule of hate and jealousy.

Help us, dear Lord, to heed the pull of service.

Above all, we long to do your will on earth as in heaven.

Help us, dear Lord, to heed your summons in the spirit of Christ.

- VBS - Mt Everest the 2015 VBS program will be held August 2nd – 6th. A meal will be served for all children, their family and all volunteers, starting at 5:30pm each night. Each night the program will run from 6:00-8:00pm. Please invite your family friends and neighbors to bring their children. The more kids we have the more fun it will be. I will once again be looking for volunteers to help with the preparing and setting up the props. I will have a board with needed food and supplies down in Wesley Hall and will be looking for volunteers to provide those items. Feel free to sign your name by each item you are willing to donate. We will be needing lots of mountain climbing gear and some tents and ropes and such for decorations. If you are bringing these props, please clearly mark them with your name.  Please contact me if you have any questions at all. Thank you in advance for all that you do to help this become a success. God Bless.

- United Methodist Women during the summer break, the ladies of the United Methodist Women continue to concentrate on supporting the Quilters and will soon be separating items to be included in the layettes for distribution early in the fall. Judy Bevers, Reading Chairman, urges all readers to enjoy a good book during these more relaxed days.

- CWU Needs Volunteers for The Banquet The steering committee of Church Women United met recently to plan for the annual serving of The Banquet on Thursday, July 23rd. The menu will similar to last year: tuna and noodles, peas, bananas, bread and butter, bars and cupcakes. Because there are sufficient funds in the CWU treasury, churches will not be asked to pay for the main meal. Each church, however is asked to provide 4 dozen cupcakes, or bars or cookies. Also, 3 workers are needed from each of the members. At the Annual Meeting, it was decided to only have CWU sponsor the Banquet and World Day of Prayer this year. However, wanting to continue to honor someone with the Human Rights Award, it was decided to include this in the 40 minutes prior to the 6:00 Banquet serving. We actually have just two elected officers at this time; Roni Trezona, secretary and Pam Kettering, Treasurer. Rita Wentworth graciously convened the planning meeting, but has competed her term as president. Church Women United has been active in Yankton for 75 years. Please give prayerful thought to what the future holds. And for the present, arrange with co-worker(s) from your church for food and helpers for July 23rd.

- You’re Invited help Mary and Ken Philippi celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary at an open house July 25, 2015 1-3pm at the Summit Activity Center.
