Next Sunday:

- Last Day of Sunday School is today, May 10th.  We have enjoyed the children and thank you for bringing them each Sunday so they can learn from the Bible, grow closer to Christ, and in their faith life.  We will be looking forward to a great new year in the fall of 2016. 

 

- FUMC at the FPC The Evangelism Committee is organizing two worship services at the Federal Prison Camp on Sunday, June 28th and Sunday, August 30th. Anyone interested in participating should contact Amy Nelson at 760.9068 or Bob Thue at 660.6051 and attend a planning meeting on

- On behalf of the Finance Committee, thank you to everyone who purchases Hy-Vee cash cards through First United Methodist Church. The Committee recently approved a request to remodel the Jr. High Youth Room at an estimated cost of $5,538 using some of the proceeds from past Hy-Vee card sales. Last year alone, FUMC raised $6,206 through this very simple and valuable ministry that everyone can participate in. Hy-Vee cards are available for sale each Sunday before and between worship services. A special thanks to all past and present church members and office staff involved in this ministry.

 

- Heritage Sunday Have you been a Methodist for 50 years or more, and haven’t been listed in the church record? Heritage Sunday, May 31st, will recognize 50 years members. If you joined a Methodist or EUB church in 1965 or earlier, please tell the church office.

 

- The Evangelism Committee is hosting play based on Katheryn Hickey’s children’s book call the “Candle Makers daughter”. If you would like to be in the play please contact Katheryn at 605-655-4892 or see her after church.

 

- Camp even though the Early Bird deadline is past you can still register for camp. The cost would be at full price.  The church and UWM will still cover ½ of the early bird cost for one camp per youth (K-12th grade) you are responsible for the balance. If you have any questions please talk to Diane Kisch.

 

- VBS-Everest Mark your calendars VBS will be held August 2nd through the 6th. Watch the bulletin for more details.

The Scrapbooking event was a huge success.  Thank you for all donating food for the meals.  Everyone that attended said they would come back if we host it again.  We made $700.  A huge thank you to Kristi Palecek for all the work she did to make this a success and to Sue May for lining up the food and Nancy Hetherington for helping during meals.

Wyatt Adam is the son of Rochelle Olson. He is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Yankton High School. Wyatt participated in football and baseball while attending Yankton High School.  Wyatt has been active in Sr. Youth Group.

Favorite UMC Memory: Playing predator at lock-ins

Favorite Scripture Verse:  Joshua 1:9 “Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.”

Number 3 is, you should have your emotions moved to tears. You do that 7 days a week you’re going to love something special.” – Jimmy Valvano

Plans for the Summer: Help on my grandparents farm and play baseball.

College Plans: University of South Dakota, Major in Criminal Justice

Career Plans:  Become a police officer

Jace Guthmiller is the son of Dan & Kami Guthmiller. He is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Yankton High School. Jace participated in Golf, National Honors Society, Y-Club while attending Yankton High School. 

Favorite UMC Memory: Rev. Ron, great mentor and taught me many good things about being a Christian and loving life.

Plans for the Summer: Golf, work and have fun.

College Plans: Play golf at University of Lincoln Nebraska, major in business

Career Plans:  Own my own business or pursue golf.

Brady Hale is the son of Rob & Lesley Hale. He is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Yankton High School. Brady participated in football, basketball, track, National Honor Society, Y-Club and baseball while attending Yankton High School.  Brady has been active in Youth Group, Sr. Youth Group and FCA.

Morgyn Jaquith is the daughter of Andrea & Phil Jaquith.  She is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Yankton High School. Morgyn participated in Dance, Dance Team and National Honor Society while attending high school.

Morgyn has been active in Kids Against Hunger, Angel Tree The Banquet and Sunday School.

Favorite UMC Memory: Great Bear Skiing trip and singing at nursing homes.

Cole Moderegger is the son of Derek & Julie Moderegger. He is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Yankton High School. Cole participated as Choir, Theater and National Honor Society while attending Yankton High School. Cole has been active in Youth Group, 1 year CCYM and 2 mission trips.

Favorite UMC Memory: Mission trip to Chicago

Plans for the Summer: work at Gavin’s Point National Fish Hatchery and Sherwin Williams and hang out with friends in my free time.

College Plans: Attend SDSU and major in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences

Career Plans:  Hopes to work for a National Fish Hatchery

Alex Wieseler is the son of Allen & Chrissie Wieseler. He is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Yankton High School. Alex participated as Soccer and National Honor Society while attending Yankton High School. Alex has been active in Youth Group and Youth Council.

Favorite UMC Memory: Working on a fence for goats in a creek in Kentucky with Ty Kaiser.
