A Time of Gathering and Praise

GATHERING MUSIC “King of Heaven”

RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP (Please leave complete address)

As travelers on the journey of faith, God has called us.

Our help comes from the Lord.

Out of country and family, God has called us.

Our help comes from the Lord.

Filled with the Spirit, we have been born into a new life.

Our help comes from the Lord.

Pick up your cross, we hear our Savior say.

We pick up our crosses, and follow - for our help comes from the Lord

who has called us.

*OPENING PRAYER

*SONGS OF PRAISE “Hallelujah”

“Forever Reign”

*LITANY “I Am All Alone”

I was walking down Main Street when an alcoholic cried, “I have no family. I am

all alone.”

You are not alone, but a member of God’s family and ours.

I was leaving the grocery when a child wailed, “I have no food. I am all alone.”

You are not alone, but a member of God’s family and ours.

I was stopped at a red light when a youth screamed, “I have no home. I am all alone.”

You are not alone, but a member of God’s family and ours.

I was entering the church when a stranger confessed, “I have no friends. I am all alone.”

You are not alone, but a member of God’s family and ours.

I was visiting a nursing home when a grandmother confided, “I have no hope.

I am all alone.”

You are not alone, but a member of God’s family and ours.

When your people feel alone, help us to make sure, O God, that they not be alone.

- Lenten Study our Lenten Study this year focuses on Adam Hamilton’s book “Final Words from the Cross”.  In 24 Hours That Changed the World, Hamilton took us on a Lenten journey through the last day of Jesus’ life. Now in this inspiring follow-up book, Hamilton explores Jesus’ final words as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of those who stood near the cross. Each chapter begins with the biblical account followed by a first-person story as might have been told from the viewpoint of one of the characters at the cross. Then the chapter explores the meaning of Jesus’ dying words for our lives today. Adam Hamilton is senior pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kanas. This DVD study will begin Wednesday, February 25th from 7:15-8pm. We will plan to meet on the following Wednesday evenings during the Lenten season. If you have questions, please contact Rev. Ron. Everyone is welcome to attend.
