*CALL TO WORSHIP

Let us gather with Christlike humility,

obedient in his love, compassion, and sympathy.

We exalt the name of Jesus above all others.

Let us strive to honor one another more than ourselves.

We follow the example of Christ.

Let us joyfully serve in God’s vineyard,

toiling without argument.

We labor to make disciples of Christ

in all the world. Amen

*OPENING PRAYER

*HYMN OF PRAISE #127 (blue hymnal) “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

*LITANY                                                                               “Keep You Mind There”

Whatever is true, keep there your mind.

We will shield the truth with our lives, even if we are accused of being false.

Whatever is honorable, keep there your mind.

We will wear honor as a cloak, even if we are put to shame.

Whatever is just, keep there your mind.

We will stand up for justice, even if we are charged with rocking the boat.

Whatever is gracious, keep there your mind.

We will open our hearts to grace, even if we are reproached for

compassionate ways.

ALL: What we learn and receive and hear and see in Christ our brother,

the people of God shall do.

Take your love to a bitter world, and the peace of God go with you.

us on October 17th for our first lock-in of the year.  Look for more information to come in the weekly church bulletin.

- The Annual Soup Kitchen and Country Store, Wednesday, October 15th, will be an important day for our church. It is an opportunity for our entire congregation to enjoy great fellowship while working together toward a very worthy goal. The event is a project of the United Methodist Women but it needs everyone to successfully raise funds designated for camping scholarships and local missions. How can you be involved? Your donations of food and items for the Country Store are needed as well as your willingness to work during the day. A “white elephant” table will also be part of the Country Store. New, like new, and never used household and personal items may be donated for sale. No clothing, please. The Reminder and Sunday church bulletins include a form to be completed and turned in no later than October 6th. Please complete the form to limit the number of calls needed to contact everyone. We count on your help to make this a very successful event.

Julie Mooney & Mary Pietila, Co-Chairs

- Turkey Supper - One of our important outreach ministries is our annual Turkey Supper held in February.  The community looks forward to this event and it brings in people who might not otherwise come through our doors.  In addition to being a community event, the proceeds are donated to causes such as United Methodist Pastor Ron Olson & family from Bowman, ND who were injured in a car accident in December 2013 leaving their daughter paralyzed.  Our previous coordinaters have decided to help with other activities so we are in need of someone(s) to coordinate this ministry.  This is a great opportunity for two friends or a couple who have been thinking about how they might be in service together.  Does coordinating the Turkey Supper sound like something you would be interested in?  Want to learn more?  Please contact Jeff May, Chairman of the Finance Committee.

- Praise and Worship Mount Marty will host a Praise and Worship time on the third Tuesday of the month (October 21st and November 18th) starting at 7:30pm in the CyberCafe. The music will reflect the contemporary Christian music on radio stations like K-Love. Musicians and singers will be invited from both the local churches of Yankton and students of Mount Marty. Dr. Deb McCuin will be organizing the evenings. To volunteer to perform call Dr. McCCuin at 970-231-1288.

- Seeking Listening Waiting Serving (S.L.W.S) Adult Sunday School class S.L.W.S meets Sundays at 8:30am in Wesley Hall. Discussions include the Upper Room and Our Daily Bread. Everyone is welcome to attend.

- The B.A.S.I.C. (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) Sunday School class will be studying NETWORK this fall.  The study will help us discover our own spiritual gifts, our personal style and our God given passion for serving within the body of Christ.  We will be starting today, September 21st so grab a cup of coffee and a cookie and join us at 9:45am in the conference room by the office.  Don't forget to bring a Bible also.  I hear it will be a life changing experience.

- New Session - We want to invite anyone that wants to join our Tuesday prayer group at 7 am at the Frying Pan.  We will start a new session Oct 21st.  Hope to see you there.  Any questions contact Laurie 605-660-2465
