Still Jesus comes: to us, to our town, to our nation, to our world.

Ride on, ride on in majesty!

Still Jesus rides: to peace rejected, trusts betrayed, and hope destroyed.

- Lenten Study Our Lenten DVD study this year will focus on Adam Hamilton's book "24 Hours That Changed the World."  Hamilton guides us through the last day of Jesus' life.  Hamilton begins with the Last Supper, which took place on Thursday night, and ends with Christ's death on the cross the following afternoon. The aim of the study is to help us better understand the events that occurred during the last twenty-four hours of Jesus' life, see more clearly the theological significance of Christ's suffering and death, and reflect upon the meaning of these events for our lives.  In order to do this, we will look at the geographical and historical setting of the events of the fateful day; reflect theologically on Jesus' death; and, ultimately, look to see ourselves in the story, considering how we are like Pilate or Peter, Judas or John. This study is from 7:15-8:00pm.  We will plan to meet on the Wednesdays throughout Lent and ending with the Wednesday of Holy Week.  I hope you will plan to join us for this informative and potentially life-changing journey and study!

- United Methodist Women’s Project in an effort to make it more affordable to put together Layette Kits for the Marketplace UMW is asking all members of the church to make note of what it takes to put these kits together and collect individual items which will later be assembled into complete kits. At each UMW meeting baskets will be out to collect items. Church members may give items to UMW members or leave the items at the church office to be added to the collection. Items needed must be new. They are: 6 cloth diapers, 2 shirts or one-piece body suits, 2 baby wash cloths, 2 gowns or sleepers, 2 diaper pins, 1 sweater or open front jacket, 2 receiving blankets (not crib blankets). You are encouraged to watch for sales and help with this project.

- Church Council the Church Council will hold its next quarterly meeting on Tuesday, April 29th at 6:30pm the Church Lounge. All members of the Church Council are encouraged to make every effort to attend.

- Music Ministry - Lessons For Youth Group if you are gifted with musical talent and would consider teaching lessons, we have members in the youth group who want to learn! It is very exciting to see members of the youth group wanting to learn to play the guitar, bass guitar, piano/keyboard and drums to be able to play with the praise team in the future. If this is something you would be willing to try we would appreciate it. Please contact Jeannie Kasik (605) 760-0043.

- Camp Scholarship Funds with the Dakotas Foundation This fund was established to assist youth with camping registrations and/or expenses.  The main sponsor of this scholarship came from Ethel Schenk who originally contributed $3,750.  This amount, along with other memorial gifts from various people who designated the funds to be used towards camp scholarships, made up the balance. This money is invested with the Dakotas Foundation. This money is intended to assist families that have youth (1st grade through graduating seniors) attending camp that express the need for additional financial support to cover their share of the cost.   The way the money will be distributed is any family that would like a little extra financial help is to fill out a Camp Scholarship Card located in the church office and place it in the decorated box by Sunday April 13th. Families will be informed of the amount that will be applied to their youth’s camp cost on Monday, April 14th. The Education committee has a formula established to equally split the $500 amongst the designated recipients as an equal percent based on the cost of each camp.  If you have questions please call Diane Kisch 660-1242. It is the hope of the finance and education committees that people will contribute to this fund and the size of our investment will grow so that the amount of money we are able to distribute grows.

- Heritage Sunday is May 18th.  We will recognize church members who have been Methodists for 50 or more years.  If you have been a member that long, and have not been recognized, please notify Lisa in the church office. Church History Committee

Summer Camp – Time to start planning!

Camp brochures should be here – if you did not get one in the mail you can find them on the bulletin board as you come in to the church or in the Education Office.  Deadline for the Early Bird price is April 30th.  The church & UMW will take care of ½ of the early bird cost of one camp per youth. If your youth is going to more than one camp you are responsible for the cost of the other camps.  If you register after April 30th – the church & UMW will only pay for ½ of the early bird cost.  You will be responsible for the difference between early bird and full price.

The registration process is a little different this year.   You will need to call Lisa in the office to get the church code that you will enter on the registration form this code will automatically subtract the church’s portion from your payment.  Full payment is due when you register this year. To do this you will be able to select one of 2 options:  to pay in full or pay monthly with automatic credit card payments.  If you choice the automatic credit card payments the first payment will be for $75 and balance of the amount you owe will be divided equally by the months remaining through August (ex: if you register in March and the camp you register for is $300, the church code will lower your payment to $150.  $75 will be charged to your credit card at the time of registration, the remaining $75 will be divided by 5months so at the first of each month from April to August $15 will be charged to your credit card.)  You will be able to register more than one person at a time but if you are registering the same person for more than one camp you need to do a separate registration online for the second camp.  If you have questions about this process you can call Lisa in the office or Diane Kisch at 660-1242.

The Conference runs a Cross State Bus to Storm Mountain – if you plan to have your youth ride the bus you must mark it on your registration form.

We encourage you to attend camps that other youth in your grades are going to – hopefully we can carpool whenever possible.  Remember if your child is riding with someone it is common courtesy to help cover the cost of gas.  If you plan to use the church van – it needs to be half full (8 people or more – if you only have 7 and feel you need to use the church van check with the chairperson of the Trustees, Pastor Bob or Rev Ron).  Those riding in the van are responsible for gas.  Lisa in the office needs to know if you would like your youth to ride in the church van or carpool with others.  She will be able to tell you if anyone else is signed up for a camp you are thinking about. It is very helpful if Lisa gets a copy of your registration forms so she knows what camps you youth are going to.

For the 1st – 3rd graders we need to have 1 adult attend camp with every 5 campers.  There is a cost for Shepherds that attend SonShine camp (K & 1st graders) & DaySpring (2nd & 3rd graders).  Remember the grade listed for each camp is the grade the camper is currently in.
